On September 20, the 2018 Tour of China International Road Cycling Race in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ushered in the fourth day of the second phase in Hengqin Island, Zhuhai. In this flat stage competition, the competition for the various honor jerseys has not changed.

Zhuhai is located in the hinterland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, separated from Hong Kong by sea in the east and Macao in the south. Zhuhai has been ranked first in "China's most livable city" and "foreigner's favorite Chinese city" for many times. As a state-level new area, Hengqin has now entered the "era of free trade zone" and is the most dazzling of Zhuhai's many beautiful islands. As an integral part of China's Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Hengqin is at the forefront of China's reform and opening up and is an important hub of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

The starting and ending points of the Zhuhai Hengqin Circle Race are all located at the Hengqin International Tennis Center, and the 11.5-kilometer track is rounded along Hengqin Avenue to Niujiaokeng, with a total of 8 laps and a total distance of 92 kilometers. There are two sprint points on the way on the second and fourth laps, 23km and 46km.

In order to highlight the concept of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, before the official launch, the Hengqin New Area Management Committee, the co-organizer of the Hengqin stage, the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the executive unit Huafa Sports organized mass amateur events in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, attracting riders from the surrounding areas, Hong Kong and Macao to participate.

The race officially started at 12 o'clock at noon, Li Weihui, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Hengqin New Area Management Committee, Cai Jianxiang, director of the Huangcun Sports Training Center of Guangdong Province and chairman of the Guangdong Cycling Association, Guan Wei, director of the Social Affairs Bureau of Hengqin New Area, Jiang Yongjun, deputy director of the Guangdong Youth Training and Competition Center, Wu Xiangming, deputy director of the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Xu Rong, Secretary of the Party Committee and vice president of Zhuhai Huafa Group, and Lv Pinde, executive director of Zhuhai Huafa Sports Operation and Management Co., Ltd., Shao Guoqing, deputy general manager of marketing and corporate communication of Omar Business Division, and other leaders and sponsor representatives gave orders for the event.

Perhaps due to the hot weather, the race started uneventfully, and although Bannes from LKT Brandburg Intercontinental in Germany and Vincent from Hong Kong tried to break through, there was no violent pulling on the track, and the drivers almost always moved forward relatively smoothly in a large group during the first two laps.

On the third lap of the race, the small group of 11 drivers accelerated away from the main group and gradually built up a 1 minute and 20 second lead. Subsequently, Kononico of the Beijing Xidesheng-Innova Continental Team also joined the breakout group.

As the race drew to a close, the peloton picked up noticeably, but the riders in the lead worked well with each other until the moment they reached the finish line.

In the end, Leeds of Italy's Androni Racing Team crossed the line first with a 1 hour, 53 minutes and 51 seconds, nearly 2 seconds, with Australia's BSC Intercontinental Team's Freiburg and Italy's William Intercontinental Professional Team's Mosca in second and third respectively.

The sprint moment is exciting

At the end of this stage, there were no changes to the winners of the various jerseys. Australia BSC Continental Team Anthony. Giakopo remains the owner of the yellow jersey and the blue jersey of the sprint king, the polka dot jersey belongs to Lopez of the Bulgaria TRE continental team, and Jiang Zhihui of the Micheledonian cycling trading team continues to hold the white jersey that symbolizes the best rider in Greater China.

After the competition in Hengqin, Zhuhai, the 2018 Tour of China will continue to be held, and after 1150km by train on the 21st, the final two stages will be contested on the 22nd and 23rd.
