The Hengqin Marathon, which was held in 2018, is one of the most distinctive marathons in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Among the 10,000 runners in 2019, many runners from cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area gathered, especially from Macao, to participate in the grand event, and the Hengqin Marathon provided a new platform for the joint development and exchange between Zhuhai and Macao, as well as the promotion of Hengqin's development as an international leisure tourism island.
