WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai is the elite year-end finale of the WTA hosted by Zhuhai Huafa Groupand operated by Huafa Sports. It is a major tournament with a format where the players ranked9 to 19 compete for 700 WTA ranking points and a total prize money of more than $2 million(US). Among the prominent list of Zhuhai competitors in the past three years were former No.1Venus Williams, CarolineWozniacki, Jelena Jankovic, two Grand Slams champions, Petra Kvitova(2011 and 2014 Wimbledon) and Samantha Stosur (2011 US Open). The tournament is held inevery November and will be hosted in Zhuhai for another two years.
Zhuhai Open is a professional tennis event hosted by Chinese Tennis Association, organized byZhuhai Huafa Group and operated by Huafa Sports. In 2017, the debut of the event has attracted top young Chinese players including Ze Zhang, Di Wu, Saisai Zheng. The event is held every March.Australian Open’s Asia Pacific Wildcard Playoff is a professional tennis event hosted by AustralianOpen, organized by Zhuhai Huafa Group and operated by Huafa Sports. The champion of theevent will earn a ticket to Australian Open main draw competition. Denis Istomin, winner of 2016,beat 6-time Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic in the second round of 2017 Australian Openand generated much media coverage. The event is held at the beginning of every December.Huafa Sports has launched a series of tennis training courses in Zhuhai city. It provides junior,middle and senior tennis learners with specialized courses enhancing the city’s tennis and sportsculture.
